Turning The Tables

Now HERE'S a Blast from the Past!

This was probably my first ever attempt at an animated video. This is from Waaaaaaaaay back in 2008! I decided to clean it up a bit, but left most of everything intact, and thought it would make good practice in using my movie making program, trying to figure out FPS.

It's an animation that illustrates part of a story I've been writing (on and off again) for quite some time.  This is from Chapter 3, in-which my bard-character is being waylaid while on the road, in a heavy downpour. At the threat of his life, the would be robber turns to examine the contents of the cart, working with his dagger to try to pry open a medium chest. Knowing that his life would probably be at it's end when the robber opens the chest, Rórdán turns and prepares to attack!

That's the setup, here is the excerpt.

Gathering himself up, the sound of his motions covered by the sound of the rain. Rórdán leapt at the stooped figure, crashing into him and sending the figure head-first into the rear of the cart with a sickening thud as bone met wood. Rórdán was sent flying over the now slumped figure and over the back of the cart, barely managing to land on his feet.

No, the rain is pouring too loudly for the THUD to be heard. LOL So yeah, a one-sound pony. lol

54 frames, and OMG The way I saved these is INSANE. I mean, instead of each element having it's own layer, I put each FRAME into a layer. So fixing a couple small things here and there was all manual, and checking through 54 layers! LOL

Anyway, it turned out decently for being such an old file. Mostly nostalgia here, though this is the same story that my "May the Walls Rise Up to Meet You" deviation is from. Just 10 chapters later. ;)

May the Walls rise up to meet you... Pencil Test by CrystallineDreamer

Considering at that time I had never even ATTEMPTED human animation like that and I was still pretty unfamiliar with my art program, obviously, these turned out very well. I think everything in here was Mouse-Drawn too! Because I know I didn't have a scanner until a few years later.

Oh yes, the Heavy Rain Loop, is a free download at PartnersinRhyme.com I had to extend it in Audacity so that the tiny little part where you can hear it go quiet, for just an instant, was gone.

The same sound effect I used originally back in 2008. ;) So I'm glad it was still available.
